Axios Systems, a leading IT Service Management (ITSM) solution provider, in collaboration with IT recruitment specialists, Globe One, announces that becoming ITIL® qualified can increase an IT professional’s earning potential by up to 40 percent. The widespread momentum and interest that the ITIL® framework has generated in organizations is now being reflected in greater financial rewards for IT professionals.
Based on an assessment of Globe One’s current clients, all of the present employers prefer that candidates have an ITIL® certification, either manager or foundation level, and are awarding a salary increase of up to 40 percent for candidates with the qualification. For those candidates without an ITIL® qualification, employers want at least 10 to 15 years of on-the-job experience for the same pay bracket. This trend demonstrates that IT employees could stand to benefit from completing the training with possible salary increases of up to $28,000 per year.
Tasos Symeonides, CEO, Axios Systems explains, “While money may not be the primary reason that professionals pursue certification and training, there can be no denying that there is a very real correlation between the two. With the flexibility of modern training opportunities, classroom and online, full or part-time, IT professionals now have the means to boost their careers in a way that simply would not have been possible 15 years ago. Amidst the numerous IT qualifications with differing degrees of value, it is gratifying to see that ITIL® is regarded as an industry benchmark—both for employers and employees.”
Lauren Needoff, divisional manager for Globe One says, “We have worked with organizations in the IT Service Management industry for many years and a trend that we have identified is that many positions simply are not open to candidates that have not attained the ITIL® certification. This is particularly true in the public sector and financial services, as well as for managed service providers and consultancies. The IT skills gap, particularly for more junior positions, is a well worn topic of debate in the recruitment community, and the financial incentives for reaching a certain skill set offer a fair reflection of the state of the market. ITIL® has steadily become an industry imperative and by offering higher salaries, companies are clearly recognizing its business value.”
